ABOUT THE WORKSHOP hands-on-learning

This workshop is designed to provide an overview of advanced statistical methodology for genetic studies of substance use and abuse phenotypes. It covers analytical methods for twin and family studies, multivariate modeling, measurement and phenotyping, development and dynamical systems, advanced variance components analysis and GxE interaction. The focus is on a hands-on approach, in which participants use their own computers to implement and experiment with statistical methods described during presentations by the faculty.

EVENT NOTES some things to know

Registration and selection/registration of participants will be on a first come, first serve basis. Registration is limited to 50 participants and fees include access to all sessions, coffee breaks, lunch breaks, and opening and closing receptions. Individuals from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, individuals with disabilities, and individuals from socially, culturally, economically, or educationally disadvantaged backgrounds are especially encouraged to attend.

WHERE TO STAY special workshop hotel rates

A limited number of rooms have been reserved at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in downtown Richmond at a special workshop rate of $121/night.  The hotel is about a mile from the workshop location and offers shuttle services. The Hilton Garden Inn offers a special VCU rate of $141/night; the special rate will be adjusted at checkout. Please let us know at the workshop if you are staying at the Hilton to receive the special VCU rate.
